Chapter 2: Snow, Fun, and Laughter

I awoke the next day, excited as I could be. It was Saturday, meaning no school and I could go have fun with the new friend I had in Jack Frost. I quickly got out of my bed, got dressed, and put my warmest jacket on.

I ran down the stairs towards the door, but my mother stopped me, “Whoa, where are you going in such a hurry, Miyuki?”  She smiled sweetly, “Sit down and have some breakfast.”

So I did as I was told, but instead of taking my time with the food Mother put in front of me, I scarfed it down as I quickly as I could without choking. I put my dish in the sink and went to the door once again, this time saying bye to my mother, “I’m going out Mom. I wanna go play out in the snow.”

My mother smiled, “Be careful and stay warm.” She shouted as I was practically out the door, “And have fun!”

I ran outside as soon as my little feet could. I quickly scoured around for the familiar face that appeared to me last night. As I searched to no avail, I began to think that maybe it was all just a dream. But it felt so real…

Just as I walked under a tree, Jack’s pale face hung upside down in front of me, his hood dangling away from his hoodie and his hair flipped away from his head.  I was startled at first, but when I realized who it was I laughed.

Jack fell from the tree branch, only to land on his feet with the help of the wind. “Miss me much,” he laughed, his icy blue eyes shimmering with joy.

“A little,” I giggled. I bent down to make a snowball, but I was ambushed before I could even form a ball. I laughed, throwing a return fire.

He flew up, dodging my throw. He then taunted me, “You’re way out of your league if you think you can hit me with a snowball.”

I was determined to show him how wrong he was. With an evil smirk, I quickly formed a snowball and tossed it at him, hitting him in the face and wiping that smug look off his face.

He looked mad for a few seconds, but it soon melted away as he started laughing. He then flew towards me.

I started running as I fast as I could, but I was not fast enough for the Jack Frost. Soon enough, I was pelted by a snowball, then many snowballs. I was covered in a pile in snow; all I could hear was the mischievous laughter of Jack. I popped up as he paused in his laughter, just to start back up with me joining in.

I found my sled and with the help of Jack, I was sent on an icy roller coaster. Going here and there, and places where sledding was impossible. He never ceased to amaze me.

We played the rest of the day, making it the best day of my life. I had no friends to play in the snow with. I was quite shy so I made very little friends.

Every day, Jack would return to entertain me and him. The weeks went by, then the months, and then years. The seasons when he couldn’t be around were saddening to me, but I knew when winter would return, so would he. Those times spent with him were some of the most memorable days of my life.

In the spring, when Jack wasn’t around, I sat in my room most of the time. Sometimes, I would have fun with my parents, especially during Easter. They would always take me to Easter egg hunts and help me find the eggs. One year I even saw a flash of something go by quickly in the corner of my eye right before I found a few eggs in a spot no had searched in. Those were fun times, but nowhere near as fun as what I had with Jack Frost.

When times were hard for me or when I was sad, Jack would always be there to cheer me up. Those days became more and more, when my parents started arguing. I tried not to let it bother me, but it was so hard. Jack helped me forget it all.

As the years went by, I grew up, but I never forgot my friend Jack Frost.  Even as I teen, I believed. I had every reason to believe. But soon, I realized I was admiring him as more than a friend. I was falling in love with Jack Frost.

He was there for me, even if it was just to play in the snow. He was my distraction from life. I never doubted the he would return, even if it wasn’t always every day that he came.

Even when I didn’t know I needed him around, he was around to help me. One day, when I got out of school and the snow covered the ground, a group of bullies surrounded me and began to tease me. After a few minutes of it, I was desperate and almost ready to cry. I cried out for help and smiled when I see my icy savior come to my side. Even though no one else could see him, he froze the ground around my teasers’ feet, sealing them in place where they stood. With them immobile and confused, Jack took my hand and helped me run away. Once we were far enough away, he turned to me and asked, “Are you okay, Miyuki?” I looked up to him and smiled, “Yeah, I’m fine. Thanks, Jack.”

He taught me things no one else ever could. For instance, one year I had just gotten ice skates for Christmas and Jack took me out to his frozen lake and taught me everything about ice skating. Though he didn’t use skates, he still gracefully skated behind me, his arms around me so I wouldn’t fall. I will never forget his cold embrace as he gently held me that day. Then after he thought he showed me enough and I had a hang of it, he slowly let me go and I skated away on my own as Jack stopped skating and flew beside me, smiling and laughing.

Then one night, four years after Jack first came by my house, he came in through my window with a cold breeze following him. I asked him out of the blue, “Why do always return to see me? Why me?”

Jack was shocked, but sat on my bed leaning on his staff. He sat there quietly. I sat next to him and finally he quietly replied, “You were the first to believe in me, to really see me in over 200 years.”

Now I was shocked. I understood why he was so surprised that first day I saw him. I sat there stunned.

Jack then looked over at me with a sincere smile on his face, “Plus you were fun to mess with and be around.” He laughed as I gave him a slight stare. Then I smiled and joined in too.

After a round of laughter with him, he got serious again. He sincerely looked in my eyes, “But really, thanks for always believing in me.”

I smiled sweetly, “Thanks for being there for me.” I boldly decided to give him a hug, obviously shocking him as he almost drops his precious staff. But after a few seconds he returned the hug.
EDIT: I added in some more of Miyuki's memories with Jack and even one from when Jack wasn't around. Later on, I'll eventually do a point of view of Jack to show when he first realized he loved Miyuki, but that's still a long ways off XD Believe me, you'll see a side of Jack that isn't really seen much in the movie, but I'm sure that he would feel the way I imagine him. I don't think anyone who goes through what I have planned for him could not feel that way XD

Ok here's Chapter 2. I'm sorry if this one sucks in comparison to the first ^^; I promise the next ones will be better. There isn't much adding to the story except towards the end. I didn't want to spend too much time on her childhood experiences with Jack, cause after a while of it I'm sure it would start to repeat itself XD Plus I got a lot more to get to, so I can't spend too much time on her childhood. I'd like to get to the present time in a few more chapters, maybe about Chapter 6 or so, depends on how things go since I'm making it up as I go along. I have a story plot, but fleshing it out takes time, considering how simple I have it my head XD

Anyways I hope you enjoy and don't hesitate to comment, I'd love to see what you think and what could use changing :D

Much better :) See now this gives the character's depth and needed back story :) Good job!
